Barry finally releases report on Blago contact
Per HotAir:
In brief: Obama talked to Emanuel and Axelrod about his preferences for the seat, then Emanuel talked to Blago once or twice and to Blago’s chief of staff (who’s also been indicted) four times to relay those preferences. The NYT had considered it a “leading unanswered question” whether Team Barry actually gave them a short list of preferred candidates; now we know. No offers of any quid pro quo were made, but who knows if Blagojevich assumed that appointing someone on The One’s list might earn him something from the administration down the line.
The most interesting bit comes at the top of page 3, in the explanation for why Valerie Jarrett was initially touted by CNN as Obama’s top choice and then suddenly untouted: According to the memo, Emanuel was confused about whether Obama wanted him to push any single candidate for the seat. It was he, supposedly, who took the initiative and recommended Jarrett to Blago, thinking Obama would want him to; only “later” did he learn that The One didn’t want to express any preference beyond the short list. Question: Um, is that likely?
See also the bottom of page 3 for a friendly chat between Jarrett herself and an Illinois SEIU chief, who told her that Blagojevich had told him he wanted to be Health and Human Services head. They both agreed that “it would never happen,” but if you’re looking for evidence that people in Obama’s inner circle knew that Blago was interested in a position with Team Barry, there you go. Exit question: If Rahm only had five or six calls with Blago and his aides, where’d the Sun-Times get the number 21 from?

US getting first commercial spaceport
Per Discovery:
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has given the green light for the world's first commercial spaceport, New Mexico authorities said Thursday.
The FAA granted Spaceport America a license for vertical and horizontal space launches following an environmental impact study, according to the New Mexico Space Authority (NMSA).
"These two governmental approvals are the next steps along the road to a fully operational commercial spaceport," said NMSA Executive Director Steven Landeene.
"We are on track to begin construction in the first quarter of 2009, and have our facility completed as quickly as possible."
The terminal and hangar facility for horizontal launches is planned for completion by late 2010.
So this is quite interesting. The article goes on to say that the "Virgin Galactic" plans to take 500 passengers per year for $200,000 a pop on a suborbital flight lasting three to four minutes. Of course a three to four minute space ride doesnt seem very long for 200k, but still very cool..Monday, December 22, 2008

Sarah Palin is palling around with drug dealers?
Per AP:
Wasilla resident Sherry L. Johnston , mother of Bristol Palin's boyfriend, faces a Jan. 6 court date for an oxycontin-related arrest at her home by Alaska State Troopers .
Johnston is the mother of Levi Johnston , who Gov. Sarah Palin said was the father of Bristol Palin's unborn child. Levi Johnston joined the Palins at the Republican National Convention when Palin was running for vice president. It was during the convention that the governor and her husband, Todd, announced Bristol's pregnancy.
Oh Sarah Palin is palling around with drug dealers now?? sigh. How is this even getting attention? I mean this is almost as important as trying to sell a senate seat, right? All these moonbat Palin haters can go drink a tall glass of STFU. That includes Keef Olbermann who is delusional and an absolute idiot but thats nothing new. Enjoy his take on this..

Salvation Army Tin Rattling Offends Other Religions?
Per DailyMail:
For 130 years they have been part of Christmas, filling the air in towns across the land with music and carols.
But one thing is missing from the repertoire of Salvation Army bands this year - the percussion of rattling tins.
Members have been forbidden to shake their charity tins - even if it's done in time to the music - in case it harasses or intimidates people. One said she had been told it might also offend other religions.
Councils and police can enforce the no-rattle rule and have powers to prosecute or ban offenders. The restriction was branded 'bonkers' yesterday both by donors and long-serving Salvation Army volunteers.
And can someone tell me how it harasses people or offends other religions? I mean yea it can annoying sometimes if youve heard it all day but c'mn..

Obama ties to Blago
Have a Coke and Smile..
Except in New York
Per TPB:
New York Gov. Patterson is looking for new revenue sources, some of which are moves in the direction of what a better tax policy would be. But as is usual from politicians, he is looking at selective sources to raise revenues, including a tax on non-diet soft drinks. . . .
But . . . why are non-diet soft drinks bad? They aren’t bad in themselves. I assume that one consequence of non-diet soft drinks (obesity) is what he is claiming to be concerned with. But if obesity is what he’s concerned with, then he needs to show the relationship between soft drinks and obesity and then the negative costs imposed on society from that soda-induced obesity. He doesn’t have such evidence. Again, he’s just looking for a money in any way he can get it. Furthermore, why stop at soda? Why not tax ice cream? Or better yet, why not have people weigh-in every year at a DMV and have their weights recorded? Then we can levy a true tax on obesity.
He's also going to try raising taxes on gas, clothing, health care, license plates, and college tuition. Im sure people of New York are gonna love this. This will definitley help our booming fantastic Economy..

Malaysia releases 9/11 terror suspect
Per AKI:
The Malaysian government has released five terror suspects, including Yazid Sufaat, who was accused of aiding terrorists during the 11 September 2001 attacks in the United States. Interior Minister Syed Hamid Albar said Sufaat, allegedly linked to the Jemaah Islamiyah militant group, was released from the Kamunting detention centre in the northern Malaysian state of Perak.
"He was considered a threat to public security in Malaysia because he was part of Jemaah Islamiyah, trying to establish an Islamic government within the region," said Albar.
"Yazid Sufaat and four others were released on 4 December".
However, Malaysian Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said Sufaat was released with another Malaysian on 24 November.
"We released him as he had shown remorse and repentance after almost seven years of rehabilitation," said Hassan quoted by Malaysian English language daily The Star.
"He was released on several conditions. He has to report to the police regularly and cannot leave Selangor without police permission. Our officers will also be monitoring him as well as several others who have been released over the past years to ensure they do not go back to their old ways,’’ he said.

Jesse Jackson Jr. allegedly offered Blago money for Senate seat
Chicago Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., is the anonymous "Senate Candidate No. 5" whose emissaries Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich reportedly offered up to $1 million to name him to the U.S. Senate, his attorney confirmed today after it was reported earlier on ABCNews.com "The Blotter".
According to the FBI affidavit in the case, Blagojevich "stated he might be able to cut a deal with Senate Candidate 5 that provided Rod Blagojevich" with something "tangible up front."
Jackson told ABC News this morning he was contacted Tuesday by federal prosecutors in Chicago whom he said "asked me to come in and share with them my insights and thoughts about the selection process."
Jackson Jr.'s attorney James Montgomery confirmed that the Chicago congressman is "Senate Candidate #5" but said "Jackson has never authorized anyone to seek the Governor's support in return of money, fundraising or other things of value."In two other interesting developments Wednesday, NBC Chicago learned that Jackson Jr. was given a phone call from the U.S. Attorney’s Office the night before the governor was taken into custody, advising him that the arrest was imminent. Also, the congressman’s father, Jesse Jackson Sr., has retained legal council following the Blagojevich arrest.

Guess Who's Back..
Per ABC NEWS:
"Jesus said upon this rock I will build -- listen to the promise -- my church," Wright said. "And the gates of Hell -- listen to the promise -- the gates of Hell -- neither ABC nor CNN -- the gates of Hell -- neither Hannity nor O'Reilly -- the gates of Hell -- neither Time, Time magazine, Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune ... the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it. Nothing will be impossible with God."
Wright said that "any preacher who dares to point out the simple ugly facts found in every field imaginable is demonized as volatile, controversial, incendiary, inflammatory, anti-American and radical."
The preacher who caused former parishioner President-elect Obama defending his use of demeaning language -- "garlic noses" -- to describe Italians in a past sermon. He said he'd been referring to "Emperor Augustus in Rome -- that's in Italy, dizzy blond on the View," Wright said in what seemed a reference to Elisabeth Hasselback of The View.
IL-Gov. Blagojevich Arrested
Per Judicial Watch:
"There has been an air of lawlessness around Governor Blagojevich for some time and Judicial Watch applauds U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald for his actions.
"Blagojevich's corruption is no surprise, but its breadth and depravity is shocking. The alleged efforts to sell the Senate seat of Barack Obama are outrageous, but also seem to implicate many other powerful politicians and political players. Especially disturbing are the questions the scandal raises about Barack Obama and his close associates.
"This is a burgeoning crisis for Obama that should shake his presidency to its core.
"The criminal complaint filed today indicates that Obama and his team knew about Blagojevich's efforts to sell Obama's Senate seat. ("Tony" Rezko, Obama friend, fundraiser and real estate partner, is once again implicated in the corrupt activities exposed today.)
"Did Obama report Blagojevich to investigators about any efforts to sell his Senate seat?"
Judicial Watch has been investigating Rod Blagojevich for over two years and has ongoing open records litigation concerning the sale of government jobs for which he was arrested today. Blagojevich has stonewalled and refused to turn over documents to Judicial Watch that could have alerted the American people to his corruption.

Planned Parenthood Scandal, Undercover Video
Student investigative team at Live Action Films finds Planned Parenthood of Bloomington, Indiana covering up the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl.
This video is first in a series of hidden camera footage, collected over the summer, documenting the sexual abuse cover-up of the abortion industry across the nation.
Despite a consistent pattern of lawlessness and abuse, Planned Parenthood, a tax-exempt "nonprofit", made over $100 million in profits last year and has a billion-dollar budget. Planned Parenthood receives over $300 million from taxpayers.

Merry Christmas! Go have an Abortion!
Here's an original holiday gift idea to help the person who may have everything, including a little something they don't really want. A new way to mark the festive yearend celebration of life -- a gift certificate for an abortion.
This year, for the first time, Planned Parenthood of Indiana is offering holiday gift certificates for that certain someone in your life who may want a breast exam, a pap smear or perhaps not want another life in their life.
Calling them an "unusual yet practical gift this holiday season," the organization is selling gift certificates in $25 denominations, redeemable at any of the group's 35 statewide locations for their services, including health screenings, birth control and abortion services.
A Planned Parenthood website page notes that a standard women's health exam costs $58 while abortions in the first trimester can run from $350 to $900.
There's even an online page to order the certificates if you know someone in Indiana who desires such services.
According to Ms. magazine, an official of the Hoosier Planned Parenthood group explained:
"People are making really tough decisions about putting gas in their car and food on their table, so we know that many women especially put healthcare at their bottom of their list to do."
I just cant think of a better gift to give than that. It really shows that you care, dont ya think?

Switzerland Votes To Give Away Free Heroin?
Per Timesonline:
The free provision of heroin to addicts won the overwhelming support of Swiss voters yesterday.
Projections based on early results indicated that 69 per cent of voters approved the programme, believed to be the first of its kind in the world, in a poll called under the country's system of direct democracy.
Crime by heroin addicts has fallen 60 per cent since the initiative to allow health clinics to administer controlled doses of the drug began 14 years ago, according to the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health.
The support for the plan came in a referendum called by opponents of a government policy that treats hardened drug users as patients rather than criminals. Critics, including conservatives who called for the referendum, object to the annual cost of 26 million Swiss francs (£14 million), covered by the health insurance that all citizens pay and the Government covers for those who cannot afford it.
The heroin scheme was introduced in response to a public outcry over the sight of addicts openly injecting the drug in public parks, as well as a rise in HIV and hepatitis infection. About 1,300 addicts are currently on the programme of carefully supervised doses, measured to satisfy their cravings yet avoid the risks of overdose and catching infections from dirty needles.
Swiss MPs voted 106-70 against legalising cannabis for personal use last year. Switzerland has recorded the highest level of cannabis use in Europe, according to a study last July. The use of hard drugs was also increasing among 15-year-olds, according to a report by the Swiss Institute for the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction.
Umm k, so they legalized Heroin but not Pot? Well yea I mean that makes sense..insert sarcasm here..So they go to a hospital to get their fix administered by a Nurse and then go on their merry way to work? Doing what?? I mean that seems safe,right..
Mumbai Gunman's Arrest caught On Camera
The footage, which was captured on a mobile phone, shows a furious crowd beating the alleged terrorist, Ajmal Qasab, before he is taken away.
It allegedly shows him with other gunmen on Marine Drive, a few streets away from the train station where the group had just carried out a killing spree.
Fleeing the scene of the carnage, the gunmen were forced to stop because the tyres of their getaway car had blown out.
